RESILIENCE AND LIVELIHOOD

RESILIENCE AND LIVELIHOOD

Over the years the war and political instability have ravaged families and households in Somalia. Livelihoods have been destroyed over the periods due to lack of stability for communities to focus on improving themselves. In order to improve the livelihoods of these communities and ensure that they get back to their feet, DAN with support from various partners has been implementing the following activities with special focus to community-based emergency preparedness, disaster risk reduction and mitigation.

  • Develop and strengthen people’s capabilities in early warning detection, disaster preparedness, prevention, relief management and recovery.
  • Provide humanitarian relief and sustainable development support to communities experiencing natural / man-made disasters and adversity in the regions.
  • Create income-generating small scale enterprises
  • Train and equip refugees and internally displaced persons with the basic skills required to anticipate and effectively deal with disaster situations.
